New Sermon Series

WORK MATTERS SERMON SERIES

Work is a gift from God.  How we work is our response of faith.  God works through people.  The Holy Spirit energizes whatever our calling is for influencing our culture for Christ, and for infusing our ordinary, everyday lives with the presence of God. For when we realize that the "mundane" activities that consume most of our time are "God's hiding places," our perspective changes.  God is at work—in, with and through you!  Join us for our summer sermon series:  Work Matters.  This sermon series from July 18 to August 15 will guide us to worship God through our various callings.    We will emphasize not what we should specifically do with our time or what careers we are called to, but what God does in and through our callings--even within the home. In each task He has given us--in our workplaces and families, our churches and society--God Himself is at work.
On going Sunday bible studies:

Bible Study for Adults: Jesus' Parables- join us in the ELC Courtyard as Pastor Bob delves into this interesting study.

Adventures in Missing the Point: A study that addresses how we've missed the point on crucial topics such as salvation, the Bible, being postmodern, worship, homosexuality, truth and much more led by Becky Loptien.

Crew: Sunday Study in the community space of the newly remodeled basement from 9:20 to 10:20 am. Great time for study and discussion.

Pastor Michael: meeting in the ELC courtyard to discuss Who is the Holy Spirit? What does this often overlooked person of the Trinity do?  The purpose of this Bible Study is to give a biblical teaching on the Holy Spirit from Genesis to Revelation. Our time of seeking the third “Person” of the Trinity Includes studies of spiritual gifts, fruit of the Spirit, the "holy" in Holy Spirit, and the Spirit as a firstfruit of our inheritance yet to come.  We will answer these questions and more in our bible study time in between Sunday worship services at 9:20 am.

Study for Women—20's/30's Women- married or single, those with children and those without children- will join together to study God's word and join in prayer and fellowship on Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m. Please contact Naomi Geidel at 303-330-5518 or nomerun@hotmail.com.

Marriage Enrichment Classes

Can you imagine someone buying a car, thinking they'll never have to do anything but drive it, and expecting it to last forever? They never change the oil or the tires, never take it in for service, never replace the hoses, belts, or plugs. They just assume it will last a lifetime without any care. Ridiculous assumption, isn't it? Yet, the majority of couples adopt that attitude about their marriages. A husband and wife think they can drive their relationship right out of the altar, never do any maintenance on it, and it will last forever. The same logic that tells us a car won't last under those conditions should tell us a marriage won't either. Sad to say, though, many of us take better care of our car than our marriage. Maybe it's just that we need to change our "spark" plugs, perhaps we've been noticing our communication has been "missing." It could be that we need a major overhaul. Most wives might even be quick to say his "block" is cracked!
Whatever tweaking needs to be done, all marriages need it. We will focus on re-tuning our relationship around money, power, communication, sex, parenting and faith.
We will be meeting at St. John’s Lutheran Church Wednesday nights from September 8, 2010 through October 13, 2010. We will share a simple meal from 5:30 to 6:00pm with classes running from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
